80200010 error

Hi

I have a Compaq PC with XP Pro and SP2. I am using a modem dial up to
access the Windows Update Site

When I try to run Windows Update I get a 80200010 error.

I am running Panda Titanium 2006 Anti Virus software. I know that there
were problems with Windows update and the 2005 version of Panda. I have
spoken to Panda support and they tell me that there are no reported problems
with Panda Titanium 2006 version and Windows Update.

I have disabled Panda and tried to run Windows Update but still get the same
problem.

I have found what error 80200010 is:-

BG_E_NETWORK_DISCONNECTED
0x80200010
The network card is inactive or disconnected. All jobs are placed in the
BG_JOB_STATE_TRANSIENT_ERROR state.

This suggests that the problem is with the network card but I am using dial
up.

This is a most frustrating problem.

Any help with resolving it would be most gratefully received.

Try manually downloading and installing the updates you require. Please
remember many are having this problem and your feedback is important.

Either from the Catalog

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what
you want, Click the “Go To Download Basket� link. Type in or browse to the
location where you want the updates saved to and then Click the “Download
Now� button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

the Microsoft Update Catalog
