Hi,
Just wondering if there is an MFST with an official response to this
issue. I'm getting this on all 3 of my PCs, since signing up to the live mail
beta. Its a tad annoying spending 2 to 3 hours uninstalling and re-installing
messenger. I'm not sure about the previous posters advice to add in the host
addresses, is a little ott for the issue, and if you tracert the ip addresses
they time out and don't go to any destination.

Thanks in advance

Nick

Greetings,

Don't expect one, only the large-scale Messenger errors get a response and even then, it's
just the standard corporate reply.

You won't be able to tracert or ping any Microsoft addresses, regardless if it's Messenger or
the Microsoft websites as ICMPs are stopped.

Cheers Jonathon,
Fair enough on the MSFT responses I suppose, I usually
post in the SQL Server newsgroups, we tend to get quite a few MSFTs on there,
probably as its a pretty large area of Microsofts business. I only asked the
question as after going through all the usual routine I was still having
issues, and googling for it produced a large number of recent (last couple of
days) issues. Funnily enough it seems to be ok now, based on the previous
posters fix I suspect this was probably a DNS server failure for the mail
beta?????? Guesswork though

Thanks for the heads up on the probable levels of response

Nick

Hi,

Sadly there isn't such involvement in the so-called "consumer" product space. Although, I'd
actually argue that Messenger goes beyond just the "consumer" moniker, but whatever.

Yeah, with the evidence it certainly seems that way wrt DNS problems/changes. I've not
officially confirmed that though.
