8100030d - Error signing in but just with one account, others are

Hello,

I have a problem when signing in Windows Live Messenger, but only when using
a particular account. It gives me error 810003d.

If I try signing in with other accounts, then it's fine.

On a totally different machine I can sign in with no problems, no matter
which account I use; all are fine.

I was running WLM 8.5 but since I could not find a solution for the problem,
I installed the latest WLM version, 2009 (Build 14.0.5027.908)

.... and the error is still there.

The problem seems to be in the contacts cache.
There is a contacts.edb file in the "real" folder, and also a "contacts.edb"
file in the "shadow" folder of the Windows Live Contacts folder.
The problem seems to be that these two files are not exactly the same; they
have a different file size.

I have checked this with my other accounts and in all the rest the two
"contacts.edb" files are the same size in both the "real" and the "shadow"
folders.

Deleting the contacts folder does not help.
New "real" and "shadow" folders are created (and then it signs me in OK),
but the new "contacts.edb" files are also different size.
Then if try to sign in again, I get the 8100030d error once again.

Any ideas? I have been trying to find a solution for days and no-one with
the EXACT same error seems to have found a solution for this.

Thanks in advance

Hi Alex -

Can you send your WLM9 ContactsLog.txt and MsnMsgr.txt logs to
?

They're at
Vista: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Messenger\Contactslog.txt
XP: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Messenger\contactslog.txt

1. Delete your logs
2, Delete your contacts cache
3. sign in, sign out and sign in again.

Basically I want both the successful and error scenarios in the logs.

Thanks,
Brian

Hello Brian,

As per requested, I have sent you the ContactsLog.txt and MsnMsgr.txt for
the successful and error scenarios, to the email address you provided.

I made 4 login attempts and I sent you the reports for each case (note that
when I get the error, no ContactsLog.txt is generated)
The corresponding files are the following:

Login Attempt 01:
-----------------
ContactsLog_Login01_Success.txt
MsnMsgr_Login01_Success.txt

Login Attempt 02:
-----------------
ContactsLog_Login02_Success.txt
MsnMsgr_Login02_Success.txt

Login Attempt 03:
-----------------
MsnMsgr_Login03_Error.txt

Login Attempt 04:
-----------------
MsnMsgr_Login04_Error.txt

Hope it helps,
Alex

Dear Brian,

Hope you had the time to look into the logs I sent to you.
Did you find anything out so far?
Any suggestions I could follow?

Please let me know if you need me to check anything specific in my computer.
I would really like to get to the bottom of this and find out what is really
going on.

Regards,
Alex

No one is willing to help me out????
As far as I can see this problem I'm experiencing is fairly common; I'm
definitely not the only one suffering it.

Can any one at Microsoft look into it and give me a hint? Please?
I can send you all the logs and any relevant info you may need from my
computer.

But please don't just be silent.

Regards,
Alex

I believe Brian already told you what to do. He said:

with one account, others are "

Please confirm.

Alex

Hello Brian,

As requested, I have sent you the ContactsLog.txt and MsnMsgr.txt generated
on a second machine.
Messenger Version 2009 (Build 14.0.5027.908).

I made 2 login attempts and I sent you the reports for each case (I got no
errors on this machine; and this is what needs to be contrasted).
The corresponding files are the following:

Login Attempt 01:
-----------------
ContactsLog_PC02_Login01_Success.txt
MsnMsgr_PC02_Login01_Success.txt

Login Attempt 02:
-----------------
ContactsLog_PC02_Login02_Success.txt
MsnMsgr_PC02_Login02_Success.txt

Hope it helps,
Alex
