85ae001d - Contact list not available

I'm guessing this has probably happened to a few people as I'm seein
increased numbers of comments about it in the last day or so around th
web.

\"YOUR CONTACT LIST IS NOT AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW
PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER.\
ERROR CODE:85AE001
Also guessing it may be something that can't be fixed from the clien
end, just wondering if anyone has any info on what might be happening

I have included two extracts from my contacts log below as I hav
signed in with one of my working accounts and the account of mine tha
has the problem ( I can still use webmessenger to sign in with th
account that isnt working with the Live Messenger client

I can't log in either: Error 85ae001d - Contact list not available. Started
yesterday, still happening today.

Can only be sorted by MSN ... use a 3rd party like http://www.ebuddy.com/
until it is fixed !!

I'm seeing the same issue, and start time to my problem.

Also having same problem. Other programs (fring, slick etc) work just fine.

Is your Contacts full?

i solfd the problem

i coppy`d the same map from a diveret pc
C:\Users\"INSERT YOUR ACCOUNT NAME"\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Messenger\(EMail
address) end delete the Contactlog.txt in the sam folder after that me msn
workt normaly again

sorry for my crapy english but i am duch whit Deslexie

1.Go to Start -> control panel -> add program
2. find Windows Live Essentials and clic uninstall
3.on the new window select repair and then click continue
4. when finish yo will can signin without problems

I have been struggling to get Windows Live Messenger to work on m
computer, using Vista OS, for quite a while now. I ran it i
compatibility mode for Windows XP and it seems to be working fine now.
