This update is making the machine run like molassas. It has slowed the
closing of files and folders to the point that the user thinks the system has
crashed. Back to the drawing board on this one!

Hi

If you manually download and install 889669, does it start to
work better then?

An update rollup is available for Internet Explorer 6 SP1
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=889669

(889669 includes MS04-040/889293 + some additional non-security
related updates)

Note:
If 889669 fixes the problem, next time Microsoft releases a cumulative
update for Internet Explorer, you may experience the problem again.

Then you will need to download a newer version of the IE update rollup
(that includes the new cumulative update + some additional
non-security related updates). Note that the IE update rollups are
not delivered through Windows Update.

I downloaded this update ok but it will not complete the installation.
Leaving it for several hours doesn't work. I am running ME. Any advice?
