hi everyone i have the same problem updating my windows this new 898461 bug.
at the very first time i did the update, everything looked fine and the
'turn off' computer screen had a little message stating that i have to really
power down the system for the update to work, so i did.
then i restart my system, everything looked fine, but then the auto update
thing pops up again with that same update...
thinking that might be a problem with the windowsupdate site being updated
(i saw it changing from v5 yo v6 at the same time), i decided to give it
another go, so the same power down messge appeared in the turn off computer
screen, i again followed the instructions.
and the same auto update message appeared again... i was stupid enough to
give it yet another go, but this time, and for the many times that followed,
it simply told me that the installation is 'cancelled', and i dont see that
nice message about powering down my computer any more.
since then i tried downloading the package from
support/download.microsoft.com, clearing the windowsupdate's software
distribution folder for that update and have it redownload again etc. etc.,
nothing worked.
this happens not just on one but all three computers that i managed to get
my hands on.
i guess this is a serious problem.
