Hi all

While doing a defrag i noticed that i have a 8GB for msn! which can be
found:
\Documents and Settings\[Windows Logon]\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Messenger\[User Account]\SharingMetadata\Working (folder by
be hidden)

Has anyone else noticed something simulair? If so does anyone know what it
is for?

Personally i find it strange to have SUCH a big file for WLM! lol

When does an 8 gig file not take up 8 gigs of space on your hard drive?
When it is a sparse file.

Sparse file description

http://www.ntfs.com/ntfs-sparse.htm

Blog entry on this

FWIW, they've changed it in the newest builds of WLM8 so that it doesn't
need this anymore. You can safely delete it now

I would just delete the file. If you want to really make sure, uninstall
WLM, delete the folders, then reinstall 566. But deleting just the file
should be fine.

Then I'd feel sorry for those people using an outdated file system on their
hard drives heh.

I don't think so, as the Sharing Folders feature is disabled entirely when using FAT32.
