I have hesitated to do my updates because of all of the problems with this
update. But what really counts here is if one does not have Share to Web
what is the chance there will be problems for those people? In other words
is it confirmed only people with Share to Web are having problems?

I have installed all recent critical updates
on several computers and have not experienced
any abnormalities whatsoever.

Some who had been using a Nvidia video card had problems and it's advisable
if you have one to check for updated drivers.
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

There was also mention of a Kerio Personal Firewall in the article.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/918165

I was one of the lucky ones.

And those running on older Nvidia video card drivers.

MS announced to plan the release of a revised version of KB908531
(MS06-015) on April 25th.

In the meantime you may want to try an update of HP's Share-To-Web
software (if beeing or having been installed on your machine) and
Nvidia video card drivers lower than driver version 61.94 via Nvidias
website: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

In case you don't find an update for your HP software, you may want
to try one of the following "fixes" in the meantime, if you are
*not* on Windows 2000:

http://patch-info.de/WinXP/Downloads...are-To-Web.zip
(Note this is a Zip file and will need to be extracted. It contains
a REG file which needs to be imported into the registry via double
clicking the contained REG file. You may have to reboot Windows
afterwards.)

or

Kelly has made a patch with exact same functionality available at:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line #383 - this is a vbs file and instructions on how to use such
files are at the top of the page.

The revised KB908531 (MS06-15) will include the exact same fixes.

Bye,
Freudi

I am having trouble using Word & Publisher -- cannot Save, Insert pictures,
etc. Task Mgr. shows "verclsid.exe", and when I end that process, the
problem goes away temporarily. I can to continually open Task Mrg & end that
in order to use my Word program.

Well from reading this it looks like I have one machine that will come
through just fine and another the I am going to have to spend money on
before I do the updates.

Can't believe I will be forced to purchase a new video card.

My main machine does not run Nvidia or have any HP products at all. My
secondary machine has an Nvidia Video card with driver 6.14.10.5673 someone
noted I need a newer driver to keep from having issues with Nvidia, well
Nvidia does not support that video card anymore. No new drivers will be
created for it.

One last thing. When the updated security update comes will the people that
installed the first update get it too or only people who have not installed
it?

Thanks

If AutoUpdate or Windows/Microsoft Update detects the machine
to be in trouble with KB908531 the update will be offered.
