I installed 931784 on April 10. It came up again April 19 and I updated again.
And I updated manually today. It still comes back.

You're on Windows XP SP2? If true, see the following.

<selfquote>
Try downloading the update manually via DownloadCenter:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...d-a9f1eae19b51

*Save* the file to a folder your harddisk (let me call it "C:\Downloads"),
do *not* execute it from within your browser.

Afterwards type the following under "Run" in the Start menu:
"C:\Downloads\WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe" /o

The parameter "/o" (o like overwriteOEM) should do the trick for you.
Note the blank between the last quote sign and the parameter /o!

Bye,

Yes XP Home SP2.

Already did that when I did manual update.
And four files in C:\Windows\System32\dllcache\ntkrnlmp.exe etc. were
already updated to 5.1.2600.3093 (SP2GDR).

Executed it again with /o and the 4 files are not different in the change
date.
But the previous log shows
12.759: c:\windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe is in the list of oem
drivers...skipping copy!
13.510: c:\windows\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe is in the list of oem
drivers...skipping copy!
16.083: KB931784 Setup encountered an error: The update.ver file is not
correct.

And the last log with /o shows
118.761: Copied file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
119.672: Copied file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe

And after reboot I am no longer prompted to install.
So overwriting the file must have done the trick.

929338 also had a similar problem in the log for the same files.
