Step 5 was to delete a file called "Download." There was no file named that,
as step 5 mentions might happen, but there was a folder with that name. I
deleted it. I deleted all of "Download's" siblings as well, relying on System
Restore if I happened to go too far. I deleted all the folders there that
contained filed with long, meaningless numeric names, because that's the
manner in which the driver was labeled. Still, it came back; in a few
minutes, Windows Update again wanted me to install the driver.
Finally I saw what maybe should have been obvious. There was a checkmark
beside the Dell driver. I removed it and then got the message that the
message that MowGreen anticipated, and I finally got to tell it to go away
forever. Still, Windows Update reminds on visiting the site that I have
"hidden" some update and that update is deemed vital.
