AC97 audio update

As posted by several others, I lost my audio after downloading the hardeware
update. By rolling back the update I have been able to get it back for most
things. However I still cannot hear "flash" audio. Whenever I hit a link that
is supposed to play flash audio I get nothing. The visual part of flash works
no problem. I tried reloading flash. It did not solve the problem.

Any ideas ?

If your sound is located on the motherboard and not on a plugin card, you may have to reinstall
the drivers from the CD that came with the motherboard.

Try this first: Double-Click the Volume Icon in the Notification Area of the taskbar, and make
sure all the devices are not muted and their volume settings are at full.
Click "Options", and check, "Advanced Controls", then click "Options", "Properties" and check
all your audio device boxes for both Record and Playback settings.

If the Volume Icon is not in the Notification Area of the taskbar, then Click Start, Settings,
Control Panel, "Sounds and Audio Devices", and check the box, "Place volume icon in the
taskbar", click "Apply", OK (Or, Click Start/Run -->> Sndvol32.exe -->> OK)

If the Volume Control Panel Window gets too wide to fit the screen, press Ctrl-S for a smaller
one. Now, every time that you open volume control, the smaller controls will be open.
(Cntl-S toggles the size)

Unk,

Yes my sound card is located on my motherboard. Reinstalling AC97 drivers
from the original disc has not helped and nor did unmuting a couple of audio
devices. All audio except to flash audio works.

Thanks

Post a link to an example of the "flash audio" you're talking about.

If it's just the Macromedia Flash Player, reinstall it here:
<http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash>
Make sure you uncheck the box, "Yahoo toolbar" before you click the Install button.

Unk,

Already tried uninstalling and then reloadingthe flash player. It did not
help. It would seem that is it not an AC97 driver problem, except that the
problem only started after the update.

I will do as you suggested post a question to a flash forum

Thanks for you help

The user is considered to be the one responsible for messing things up - not
the operating system.

Hello WindowsJunk,

Did you download your audio drivers from Windows update?

If so you better download the drivers from the manufacturers website,
because windows update is not a good source for updating a driver when that
is really needed, why I say really? Because if something works good there is
no need to fix it.......

Just see which AC 97 device you have realtek or other brand and download it
and install it and all will be fine again.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

Hi Jerry,

If he or she took it from MS update that is a part of the operting system
as in being an update for the OS So I guess he did not screw up but the
OS did it again.

Bad Point Jerry and not helpfull to WindowsJunk at all to my opinion.

Best regards,
Michel Denie
