Hi there,
why would I get access denied on files in a folder under
Public. Shouldn't everyone have access to Public? I am an administrator as
well.

Hi,

Because someone or something altered permissions. As you have an admin
account, just go ahead and change them back.

Your not talking about these, are you?

C:\Users\Public>dir /al /s
Volume in drive C is Laptop C
Volume Serial Number is 6A7C-2F6A

Directory of C:\Users\Public\Documents

11/02/2006 08:00 AM <JUNCTION> My Music [C:\Users\Public\Music]
11/02/2006 08:00 AM <JUNCTION> My Pictures
[C:\Users\Public\Pictures]
11/02/2006 08:00 AM <JUNCTION> My Videos [C:\Users\Public\Videos]
0 File(s) 0 bytes

Total Files Listed:
0 File(s) 0 bytes
3 Dir(s) 78,089,248,768 bytes free

Junctions are for backward compatibility & are not meant to be browsed in
explorer. The 'access denied' error results from a

Deny Everyone List Folder/Read data permission

There's nothing to change. I have full access.

The paths in the brackets are accessible under normal circumstances. It
would be trying to access it via 'Public\Documents\My Pictures' that would
produce an 'Access Denied' error.

Re-reading your original post, It's unclear on whether you get this error
when you attempt to view the contents of the folder or access individual
files within the folder.

When you are verifying permissions, are you doing so via the 'Effective
Permissions' tab of the 'Advanced Security Settings' dialog?

Try to Take the ownership of files/Folders. You can do it manually.
Or add the option in your Right Click Menu Using Winbubble, 'here'

In just two clicks only.
