Access to System Folders

OS = Windows Vista Ultimate

I'd like to access folders such as "Documents and Settings", "Send To",
etc., but can't when logged in under my account. My account was setup as
an Administrator account.

I thought to try logging in as the actual Administrator, but I can't
figure out how to do this. My account login picture appears on the logon
screen. I tried ctr-alt-del to present the classic login prompt so I
could enter the Administrator credentials, but it doesn't appear to work
that way anymore.

I hope I'm being clear.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

AJ

"Documents and Settings" in Vista is a junction point, not a file.
Everything that was there in XP is under C:/Users in Vista.

You're already admin on the machine. You are user\admin-AJ if that is
the user-id/account you're logged into with on the machine.

When you get that access denied on a folder or file within the folder,
then add AJ (machine-name\AJ) as an account to the file or folder with
Full rights to match Administrators (machine-name\administrators) Full
rights.

In some situations like accessing System folders like Programs, System,
or System32 etc., etc. with UAC enabled, then UAC and NTFS look at the
permissions for you user account, because you are a user too and the
Administrators account. If AJ is not there or AJ does not have the same
permissions as Administrators, then you're going to get access denied
or permissions denied.

If you don't see the Security when you go to a folder or file, then
disable Simple File Sharing to expose the tab.

administrator account is disabled in Vista, but you can enable it, just ask
your friend google to find it for you.

Highlight the C: drive, go into the Security tab, and take ownership
of everything on the C: drive. Grant yourself full priv's along the
way.
