Access to Updatesite fails!

Hi,

I´ve got a problem with accessing the microsoft update site.
If i want to update, IE shows the following error message:
"Vielen Dank für Ihr Interesse an Updates von unserer Seite. Diese Webseite
funktioniert nur mit Microsoft Betriebssystemen." "Thanks for joining our
site. This Website only supports microsoft windows operating systems."

Are they kidding?? I use WinXP SP2 with IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2

It seems to be a problem of the IE?

Any ideas?

Hi;

First, check the firewall that you are using. If it is a 3rd party
firewall, put the MU sites on any "exception" or "allowed" listing that
package provides. You will need to enter "*.microsoft.com" and
"*.windowsupdate.com" to that list.

Second, close all open apps the open RegEdit. Find and delete this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Internet
Settings\User Agent\Post Platform

Close RegEdit, and then Restart your computer (the key will be
regenerated as needed). If you are still getting the same error after
the Restart, completely turn Off the 3rd party firewall (turn on the
internal XP one for temp protection) and then give MU a try. If it
works that way then further investigation is needed regarding your 3rd
party firewall.

BTW, I'm assuming you are not on a LAN and that you have full Admin
privileges.

Make sure you are not using a Download Accelerator which cache
files.
