Accessing files in old hard drive

Recently I had to install a new hard drive because I could not boot up with
my old drive. After installing new drive and loading Windows XP, I had no
problem booting up and accessing the old drive (now drive D. I did a chkdsk
and it resulted in no problems. My problem now is that I had several accounts
set up on the old drive for myself and kids. My account as an administrator
was password protected. Now when I try to access my old files on the d:
drive, I get an Cannot access files error. Is there any way I can access
those files without reconfiguring the old drive as the boot drive?
