My Vista machine crashed and needs to go back to the manafacturer for
repairs. Looks like a motherboard problem. I want to backup data before I
send it bacaused I know they may perform a rebuild on the drives and send it
back "as new".
I am able to take the hard drive out and hook it in to my XP machine. I have
copied off alll the files I want out of the directories that were not user
specific (NTFS protected). Is there a way for me to get into the Users
directory to backup protected files? I'm primarily interested in the Email
files. I know in NTFS permissions, I can claim ownership of directories,
but, when the drive is used again in the Vista system, that will adversely
impact the Vista user from accessing them, right?
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Tom
