Hi,
We have a brand new Acer T660 PC. Here are the issues we have with it and
hope somebody has some clues. I personally installed the system with the CD
that came with it and applied all the critical and some optional Windows
updates, antivirus etc.

a) Although the box says Windows Media Center 2005 when I click on system
information it shows "Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002". Is it safe to
apply the updates marked "windows media center 2005" ?

b) System came with a USB mouse and USB keyboard. The USB mouse almost NEVER
starts up. After power up I have to unplug the mouse and plug it again so
that it becomes active. That happened since the beginning. Then I applied
the "KYE usb mouse" update from the Windows Update site and the problem
seemed to disappear for a few times but it is back again.

I think this is a windows issue because all other USB devices are properly
recognized and start up correctly. I also tried connecting the mouse via a
USB-to-PS/2 adapter to no avail.

Thanks in advance,
Emilio

Because it is Windows Update the one that is suggesting which are the
critical updates and which are optional. It is also the one that says the
KYE USB mouse is an update for my system.

It is also because after installing it the problem seemed to be helped but
then came back again.

Revert to older dreivers and ONLY use the drivers obtained directly from the vendor and NOT
through Windows Update.
