Acrobat Distiller Printer problems after WSUS Updates.............

Can anybody help on this one please ?

I’ve recently rolled out WSUS and patched my small (25 clients) network with
all critical and office based patches. Im running Server2003 with XP Pro
clients. I now have the following problem….

When trying to install Abobe Acrobat 5.0.5 on a newly patched PC everything
installs OK apart from the Acrobat Distiller printer ? On PC’s that had
Abode Acrobat installed before the patch rollout everything still works fine.
I can install other “normal� printers OK so what’s happened ? I also tried
to install Primo PDF and that failed as well when it tried to install the
PDF printer part. What has Windows Update done ? Has it blocked some ports
? Everything installs perfectly on a PC that hasn’t been patched beyond XP
SP2

Hi David,

as V5.0.5 is fairly aged, I would suggest to upgrade to a more recent
version. Anyway, there are some recommendations.

Error message when you start an Office program that has the Adobe
PDFMaker add-in installed: "A version of Adobe Acrobat PDFMaker that is
known to cause instabilities"
