Has anyone else noticed a long pause when you get to one of the steps while
starting a backup? After choosing disks and partitions and clicking next
there is a long pause on my machine. It looks like the program has froze up
but if you wait a while it continues.

Thanks for any help, Rich

I have the same issue at times w/ATI 10 in Vista Ultimate and Home Premium.
It always continues and gets the job done. I have no idea why it happens -
it just does:-)
Might try looking here:

Strangely the same thing happens on Vista Ultimate. Another thing I have
noticed with Acronis 11 on my 3 month old machine (e-machine E4264 Core2 Duo
with 2GB RAM) is that when I use my old backup DVD to backup using Acronis
they get kicked out with the error message that the media is unsuitable or
is damaged. Strange this only occurs with Acronis. I can backup using the
same 'old' DVDs and Paragon Disk Manager suite 2008 or Casper and the backup
goes ahead without any issue. It's probably my machine, but I still can't
understand why I can use the backup media with other backup applications,
but not Acronis. Incidentally it has also displayed the same error on brand
new media.

Any chance lowering the recording speed will help?

I have seen that happen on my XP machine as well. I have also had the
program pause for a couple of minutes, seemingly doing nothing, doing
a full restore. Talk about heart stopping!

I went on the wildersecurity site recommended by someone here and found that
it's an issue for allot of people. I sent a request for help but haven't
heard anything and this is day 3 so I expect soon to hear that oh with your
hardware combination things pause or something vague like that?

Acronis TI Home version 11 was working fine for me until the Feb 12 updates.
After that, it crashed whenever I tried to run a backup task. I had to
replace it with version 10, which works fine.

I run True Image Home 11 and Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I don't currently get
any problems. I have heard that the solution for the problem described was
updating to the latest version. Uninstalling and reinstalling with latest
version?
