Anyone familiar with the differences between Acronis True Image and Vista
Complete Backup? For example, can a user restore their system to a
replacement hard drive from a Vista Complete Backup without having original
Vista OS disks. (Unless emergency restore disks count)? Any other
comparisons would be appreciated.

Where as I have found some problems with Vista complete backup, I have
*never* had a problem using TrueImage HOME ver 10.0 build 2160. True image
also give you more backup options, such as backing up to DVD, external USB
2.0 and network drives - reliably!

TrueImage Backups can use different compression rates thus can be much
smaller than VCB.

BTW TrueImage Home 10 is now at build 4942 and has many fixes especially
the recovery CD/DVD. So I would encourage people to upgrade and recreate
their recovery disks.

I agree with Richard. I never had any problems with Acronis True Image
Home 10 either. It will also let you make a DVD that will reinstall a
clone of your hard drive from boot.

I use TI and have never had a problem backing up or restoring.
I would highly recommend it.

I use Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1 and it has saved me on more
occasions than I care to remember. It is some of the best software on the
market.

Have they improved the speed of restoring images using the recovery disk?
I currently use BartPE with the plugin which is 4 times as fast.

Thanks to all. Looks like a pretty easy decision. Acronis is definitely
the safer route. mike

The difference for me is that if you are restoring from back up a lot, the
Vista one takes a few minutes toc reate adn restore, with my music and
photos, the acronis takes a couple of hours at least to restore. I tend to
use both!!! Just to be safe.

Acronis is excellent I have to admit, but then the Vista complete back up
has also done well.
