Activation request saga continues

The trouble I have had with repeated activation requests for my OEM Vista32
(confirmed as genuine my a MS tec) continues. Each time I am requested I
activate and it is always successful. This all started in the runup to SP1
when MS were firing off updates to get machines ready.
Refreshing some drivers has been partially successful -- but read on.
On every occasion that Vista requests activation (WinLogon event) in Event
Viewer this is ALWAYS preceded by two occurrences of denial of access
(hr=0x80070005) to the Microsoft-Windows-Security-Licensing-SLC service which
carries the general interpretation "unable to collect hardware information".
Clearly, the security licensing service check is unable to verify that my
hardware has not changed and designates my copy of Vista as non-genuine. It
also appears that this check tolerates one failure but not two -- as there
are occasions when there is only one occurrence of denial of access which
appears to be tolerated.
Here is the event diagnostic I get:
<Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-Security-Licensing-SLC"
Guid="{1FD7C1D2-D037-4620-8D29-B2C7E5FCC13A}" EventSourceName="Software
Licensing Service" />
<EventID Qualifiers="49152">1063</EventID>
<Version>0</Version>
<Level>2</Level>
<Task>0</Task>
<Opcode>0</Opcode>
<Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords>
<TimeCreated SystemTime="2008-09-04T08:17:41.000Z" />
<EventRecordID>102736</EventRecordID>
<Correlation />
<Execution ProcessID="0" ThreadID="0" />
<Channel>Application</Channel>
<Computer>Philip-PC</Computer>
<Security />
</System>
- <EventData>
<Data>hr=0x80070005</Data>
</EventData>

I can see that in the Event Viewer there continue to be occasional single
occurrences of this failure to collect hardware information with no trigger
for activation and it will only be a matter of time before there will be a
duplicate event which will trigger the activation request.
What I specifically need from someone is instructions on how to positively
reset the access permission for the Security Licensing Service to collect
hardware information. Using the Component Services application I have looked
at the DCOM Config entries but have been unable to find an entry for
1FD7C1D2-D037-4620-8D29-B2C7E5FCC13A which I believe is the one causing my
trouble.

Gotta love DRM like WPA, right? Esp. when it's so buggy. So is the MS
tech helping you with this? Here is a link that may help:

You'll find the solution right here:

http://www.ubuntu.com. No activation, no becoming genuine and it's free.

If you were desperate enough to install Ubuntu, all your current programs
won't work with that crappy OS they call Ubuntu. Since Ubuntu and their
associated programs are all Open Source, that means they are lacking quite a
few functions that the REGULAR programs offer. Best not to mess with
Ubuntu.

Remember Ubuntu is FREE and NOBODY wants it. Imagine a FREE product that
people try, figure out how crappy it is and remove it within hours or days
of installation. That should tell you how BAD Ubuntu is. Don't go near it
at all.

A lie.

Translation: Yanaire is too stupid to install Ubuntu properly and when
you consider how easy it is to install ...

Thousands of people install Ubuntu. Once they figure out how lame Ubuntu
is, they remove it within hours.

Wrong. Ubuntu is BAD. If it was GOOD, everybody would be using it. Very
few people use Ubuntu.
