hello,
i have installed the windows server backup on my 2008 AD.
I am trying to create a schedule regular backup and save /create that backup
to a network shared but the server does not allow that.it gives an error
saying "no disks are available for a backup destination.........all disks
attached are hosting operating system.......attach an empty hard disk"

how can i use my NAS for the backup?
thank you

Hello George,

Not directly with windows server backup. Only local connected drives can
be used with scheduled tasks.

You have to do it manual, see "This version of Windows Server Backup retains
support for manual backups to shared folders and hard disks." in:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...91(WS.10).aspx

With Windows server 2008 R2 scheduled backups to shared folders are possible.
See "New functionality" in:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc732091.aspx

Create a permanent network drive. Use the drive letter as the storage location.

Although the article I have listed below refers to a Full Metal backup, see
if it can help you out.

I'd rather see a share created on the target location and the UNC name
used rather that a drive letter. If you use a drive letter, the program
will not run or will fail if no one is logged onto the server.
