Active Sync 4.5 scrambled everything

Last night I created a system restore point on my PC, backed up my PDA, make
a copy of the PDA files on my PC to another folder and upgraded to Active
Sync 4.5. What a horrible mess!

Not only did it completely remove the old version of active sync and
establish a new partnership, it changed the file date on all PDA files and
folders to yesterday. It also changed the entire desktop of my PC, putting
it back to out of the box defaults. My shortcuts, desktop background,
arrangement of the start menu items, etc gone!

I tried restoring on the PDA, told it to sync again, and the PC changed the
dates on the PDA again! The file modification date is important to me - it
saves having to make the date as part of the file name.

So then I restored the PC to the restore point which put my desktop back,
but somehow in this process the COPY of my PDA files on the PC also got
changed to today's date. So now the only place I have the correct dates is
in the backup on my PDA. Active Sync is set up to always copy files from my
PDA to the PC.

After I restore the backup on my PDA (again) how can I ensure that the sync
will copy from the PDA to the PC, including the correct date/time stamps? I'm
back on Active Sync 4.1.

I will then write my self a STRONG NOTE never to upgrade Active Sync again!

Microsoft development and testing and qa branches need to be fired!!!! I am
so disgusted (read pis**d) about the half developed junk they have pushed on
all of us at the excuse of DST. Following MS instructions loaded lots of new
drivers and tools and ActiveSTINK 4.5, forced me to load their "genuine"
operating system check. And then it did not work. I have 20 years of tech
experience, and 5 different pda devices. And Microsofts update is by far the
worse. Basically it created duplicates of all my appts and anniversaries in
the "extended" weeks of DST. Thanks Microsoft, that is so much better.

Don't load ActiveSTINK 4.5, and be prepared for duplicate appts. This is my
last experience with Pocketpc. I am moving to Blackberry!!!
