I have been running Active Sync fine for a long time with many different
devices. Recently I upgraded to XPpro from XPhome.

Now, when i plug any device (Dell AXIM atm) into the laptop Active Sync sees
it, starts to synchronize and just keeps trying. it never makes the
connection.

Drivers all appear to be fine, and i have uninstalled A S and all the DLL
files associated with it, then reinstalled to 4.1 i am getting the same
behavior.

I didn’t add anything extra to windows after the upgrade, and all firewalls
and antivirus scanners are disabled. Any ideas?

Try uninstalling ActiveSync, then run Help -> Detect and Repair in
Outlook, then reinstall ActiveSync.

Did you reinstall any firewalls? If so, which ones?
