Hi,

I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Loox 410 Pocket PC. When ActiveSync works, it works
fine but...
it only works if the Pocket PC is in its cradle (USB) when the office PC is
restarted or booted.

It works fine till I take the pocket PC out of the cradle, do some off-line
work (thats what the pocket pc is for- right?), and then plug it back into
the cradle. The pocket PC does show the pop-up window of connecting, but the
state remains at Not Connected. Clicking Sync then says "errors", and
follwing that link says: "Unable to connect, Verify that your dial-up and
proxy seeting are correct, and try again". When the conenction window pops
up on the Pockect PC, a sound is a sound is produced on the office PC, but
the connection is not establisched (§active sync remains at "not connected".
Even using File-> Get connected -> next fails to create the conection.

Restart Windows the PC, and the connection comes up automatically.

HELP..... Do i need to reboot each time I replug the Pocket PC?

--Jan

Hi Jan,

Have you tried performing a soft reset before connecting for sync purpose ?
Instead of rebooting, you can simply kill the wcescomm.exe process by
pressing "CTRL + ALT + DEL". Then start ActiveSync again and attempt to
synchronize.

If that doesn't help, try reinstalling ActiveSync. You can download it from
the following site ---

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Raj,

thanks for your suggestions, but none helps.
Active Sync reinstalled (a couple of times)
Tried soft reset on Pocket PC, does noyt help
Ctrl-Alt-Del on PC does noting: running Windows 2000 Professional
Tried stopping wcecomm.exe: did not help
Then started ActiveSync on PC: nothing
Did "get connected" on PC: conencting window popped up on pcoket PC but
connection was not established.
My conslusion: when not in boot process PC does not recognise Pocket PC as
device on USB
Suppose software programming error: any chance for a patch?

Hi Jan,

This seems to be an issue with computers running Windows 2000. I believe
the latest version of ActiveSync has improved USB support since this is the
statement found in the readme file --

"Windows 2000 USB driver issues in the previous version of ActiveSync have
been fixed."

Have you installed the latest Windows 2000 Service Packs ? Additionally,
see if the following MSKB article helps ---

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=838989

Hi All (and especially Raj),

From the description of the article I thought this would do it.. But no...
In fact, active sync seems to work fine, once USB conncetion is made between
Portable and Pocket PC. Problem is that tis connect only gets establisch if
Pockect PC is in cradle during boot + login sequence on Portble.
The connection does Not get established under any other circumstances such
as Pocket in cradle later, or extracted in inserted back later. Strage....
Any other suggestions?
Thanks for all the help so far... Unfortunatly PDA remqins 0 value
investement so far...
Regards,

Just wanted you all to know that I have since reverted to IR prot, and
Active sync works fine then!!!
clearly an USB issue, not active sync!
