Active Sync – Questionable Reliability

I am using Active Sync 4.5 with a Pocket PC with Mobile 2003, on two Windows
XP computers. I synchronize the outlook on both computers excluding e-mail.

Active Sync is starting to operate erratically, first it stopped
synchronizing Notes, now it is overwriting new Calendar and Task data with
old data.

I have gone through the settings, and they are correct for what I want to
sync, but it does not seem to be working that way.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Or am I just at the end of the useful life of
this technology?

I have tried the procedure you outlined below by deleting everything from the
handheld and second computer and rebuilding both the synchronized items.

The problem hoever is with ne things, when I add a new item, or update an
existing item, sometimes it is lost when I sync.

As an example: I create a new item on my work computer, sync, and verify it
is on my hand held, when I sync it on the home computer, it erases the new
item.

Another example: I update an existing item on my work computer, sync, and
verify it is on my hand held, when I sync it on the home computer, it
replaces the updated item with the old one.

In general, it seems to work most of the time, however I have watched it do
the above quite a few times. I have even created test items to demonstrate
this effect. It happens quite randomly, so it is difficult to detect a
pattern.

The Pocket PC and ActiveSync performed reliably for several years with no
apparent errors. It is only recently that this has been happening. All of
the hardware and related software is the same. The reliability or accuracy
of the sync has just become an issue in the last few months.

The ActiveSync is the same version for the last couple of years, but it
says it is the latest version. The only thing tha gets updated regularly is
Outlook - Windows update is turned on.

I am at a complete loss trying to figure this one out. My suspicion is that
a Windows, or Outlook update may be causing this but there are simply too
many of these to uninstall.
