Yes, the communication path for ActiveSync only works over the USB cable or
Bluetooth. Just because you can establish *some* sort of network connection
to your PC doesn't mean that everything on that PC will understand that you
have some device, located at a random location in the world, and allow any
program on your PC to talk to it.
