Active X control takes long to process when checking for updates. Just reload
XP OS with SP2. Afraid I may have issues with btaining updates. Any ideas?
Thanks. David

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP
installation or you repair a Windows XP installation

Hello David,

Clearing Temporary Internet files, cookies and history in Internet Explorer

Tools>Internet Options>General

You'll see Delete Cookies, Delete files, Delete History

Reboot and try Windows Update again.

See if the solution in this thread helps.

Also please confirm your system clock and Time Zone also the Date set
properly, Having it set incorrectly can cause this type of behavior.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

Good luck
