I can not use Windows update because of active x problems. I don't have
anti-virus, -spy or a firewall. I have also set the security settings to
enable. Do I have to call Microsoft or can some one help?

Windows Update Checklist

Enable ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer
Start Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Select the Security tab.
Select the Internet Web zone icon.
To adjust the security level, click Default Level.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Try Windows Update again.
