XP SR2
Haven't found the answer on the net.
I have 2 PDA's (actually, one PDA for my wife - one SmartPhone for me) I
want to sync to my PC. However, I don't want to sync them to the same
files ofr Outlook folders. Is it possible to set up Activesync to
function differently depending on the device I am syncing?

you have an interesting scenario. So lets say you have Outlook Profile A
open on the desktop and then cradle your device - ActiveSync will gop ahead
and create a partnership between your device and the desktop Outlook
Profile. Now you can uncradle device and switch the Outlook to open a new
Profile - say Profile B - then you cradle your wife's device and it should
associted Profile B to her device. now whenever you cradle any of the two
devices, you have to make sure that the correct Outlook Profile is open
since ActiveSync attaches to the Default one. If you cradle your device to
Outlook Profile B, you will see an error.

Thanks for the reply.
My problem now seems to be both devices are associated with Profile B.
How do I 'UNassociate' one of them and 'REassociate?'

Hi,

You will need to delete the partership of the device with which you have got
the wrong profile associated. Then open the correct profile in Outlook and
proceed to setup a new partnership.

To delete and recreate the partnership --

1. Disconnect the device from the computer.
2. In Activesync -> File -> Mobile Device.
3. Select the device whose synchronization relationship you want to end.
4. On the File menu, click Delete Mobile Device
5. Open Outlook with the correct profile.
6. Connect the new device and follow the onscreen instructions to setup a
new partnership.

FYI - If ever accidentally connect the mobile device with a different
profile, you will see an error code - "8503001f". You will need to switch
profiles and then sync.

Raj,
Thanks for the reply.
I am apparently doing something wrong.
Closed Outlook.
Deleted the reference in ActiveSync to the unwanted device.
Opened Outlook and highlighted the profile I want to sync to my device.
Connected the device.
ActiveSync asked what I wanted to sync and then connected to the default.
What did I miss?

That should have worked for you. Could you try it again and ensure the
correct profile is selected within Outlook while setting up a partnership.
