I searched throug all possible forums but still can't
solve my problem.
I have installed ActiveSync 3.8 (never had activesync
before ) but when I connect my iPAQ I get on my
PDA "Connecting to host" then "User Authenticated". The
green indicator of activesync is turning but holds with
the message "no connection"
No parnerships can be created.
In device manager the iPAQ is know as a "Windows CE USB
Device" with driver version 3.7.1.3244

On an older Compaq PC this was working from the first
time.
iPAQ 2110 Windows Mobile 2003 SE
Laptop Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO D Windows XP Pro SP1a ( No
firewall active at the time of installation)
Any idees please

Hello Raf,

This symptom is usually seen when a firewall software blocks the activesync
applications from communicating. Are you certain you don't have any
firewall running when you connect the device to sync?

Yes, very certein.
Normaly I run Sygate Personal Firewall. This was
disactivated, service stopped
even with the firewall activate I can see Activesync
looking at ports 5679 990 1026
these ports are enabled

Hi,

Instead of disabling it, could you shut it down completely for a short while
and then check if ActiveSync succeeds in communicating. This way we can be
certain that the firewall is not the cause. Sometimes merely disabling is
not enough since the ports are blocked.

Since everybody is refering to firewall problems i did
the following
Uninstall A/S - firewall - anti virus - anti spyware and
rebooted the computer, soft reset of the iPAQ.
reinstalled A/S 3.8 when I connect the PDA the green
circle is turning, I get the right messages on my iPAQ.
then no connection. Same problem as before.

Hi,

Another scenario where I have seen this error is when you have multiple
users logged in at the same time. But this doesn't seem to be the problem
in your case.

Perform a backup of the info on the device and then perform a hard reset.
Check if that helps setting up a partnership.

Hi,
I did a hard reset, didn't lose much, PDA is brand new
But this didn't work.
I connect the Ipaq directly on the laptop USB 1.1
I have also a powered hub conected with a HP USB printer,
USB Scanner and mouse attached. These are all working
fine.
When I attach the PDA to the hub it is recognized, but
the same problem exist. Green light turning, No connection

Hi,

Remove all other USB devices attached to your computer and then try
connecting your PPC.

Hi Raj,
I did that all before.
I reinstalled the PC complete from scratch.
Windows XP pro now with SP2
After installing the operating system I installed
ActiveSync 3.8 and a connection could be made.
Then I installed the rest I keeps on working.
There where 2 things I remarked during the installation.
I have a HP Photosmart 7760 USB printer, after the
reinstallation of this printer, with latest software, I
saw that there where less services running.
Then McAfee AV 7.0 could give a problem to. During the
installation I did a complete upgrade, Origenaly only the
DAT files where update. McAfee is scanning the PDA
directly upon connection even before ActiveSync made a
connection

I'm glad it is working now.
Thanks for the aid
