ActiveSync 4.1 - CheckPoint VPN SecureClient

Hi,

I'm using Windows 2000 SP4, Actvivesync 4.1 and I never managed to get my
K-Jam connected. CheckPoint VPN SecureClient is always started althought I'm
not using it when in the office (= it is not connected).

When plugging the K-Jam via USB, a network adapter is created, but no new
network connection appears... thus no sync either

Any ideas?

Tks

Hi,
Have you tried installing ActiveSync before the CheckPoint VPN is installed?

Hi,

Well, good advise, it works once CheckPoint is removed, I still need to
re-install it (company policy).

It still fairly slow but I guess this is due to PocketPC5...

Thanks

Hi,
Please reinstall CheckPoint after ActiveSync and report back whether or not
that resolved the issue.

Also the first sync with WM5 is slower. It will be faster with subsequent
synchronizations.

Hi,

Done ! and it works well, the connection is there and the K-Jam was
recognised several times.

In term of process, I don't know if this has an impact, but never know... I
reinstalled Checkpoint VPN while my Activesync connection was active. Then I
restarted my computer with the K-Jam connected.

Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for the update. It confirms what I thought. Apparently many VPNs do
not expect new interfaces to be installed after the VPN software. So as a
workaround uninstalling the VPN, installing ActiveSync and then the VPN may
get it to work.

As for it being active, it should not have mattered. The interface is there
once ActiveSync is installed regardless of whether it was in use or not.

I had this same issue. Checkpoint gave us the following work around which
works everytime!

===========================
1. Install the Active Sync software on the target PC. Following successful
installation, reboot the PC.
2. Connect the USB cable from the mobile cradle into a USB port on the
target PC.
3. Open a command line window.
4. Change your present working directory to the directory named C:\Program
Files\CheckPoint\SecuRemote\boot\modules. On the command line, issue the
command:
>cd C:\Program Files\CheckPoint\SecuRemote\boot\modules

5. On the command line, issue the the command:
>fwkern.exe -re

6. Place the mobile device into its cradle thus enabling the device to
perform sync.
Upon successfully completing this procedure, use the sync software and
verify that the PC & the mobile device do successfully sync.
===========================
