Activesync 4.1 email sorting/synchronizing

On my new ppc phone device XV6700, synchronizing email with desktop Outlook
using Activesync 4.1, email messages only tag "From" field with email
address, rather than including email address label on device. For example:

(Desktop Outlook email): From ; on behalf of; Joe Blow
[] This shows the sender as "Joe Blow"

(XV6700 device): This shows the sender as
""

This causes the Sort->From function to be completely useless, and is a step
backwards from Activesync 3.8 (at least on HP Pocket PC device).

Any suggestions on how to retrieve this email tag information?
