The concept is to synchronize the two databases. Not maintain a backup.
Backups have their own scheme. It is not a matter of winning, it is a
matter of what you changed. You deleted the item, doesn't matter on what
platform. That is what you did, that is what you wanted done, that is what
the sync process reflected to the other platform. If you wanted the record,
why delete it? Any changes made on either platform are reflected on the
other, any additions added. They are synchronized. The only change to that
is if you make a change to a record on both the PPC and PC between syncs.
That is on Bob's record on the PPC you add his birthday, and on the PC you
change his phone number, a change to the same record on each device. That is
a conflict when sync happens, and there is a setting that pre-disposes the
winner, You get to set that. This doesn't negate deletions though.
Now as far as the contents of your PPC getting erased, that will be a
different issue. If it is truly erased, the partnership you have established
is likely gone as well, and when you hook the PPC up, you will be asked if
you want to create a partnership and how you want the data handled. If for
some odd reason all your contacts got deleted on the PPC, I would recommend
deleting the partnership yourself, and re-establishing it.
If you ever do inadvertently delete a record or two on the PPC, just move
that record into a folder on the PC temporarily, sync, and then move it
back. AS doesn't support records in folders, so when you move it back it
will be treated like a new record and copied back to the PPC.
