ActiveSync 4 Loses Items to Sync

This has happened before and it seemed to fix itself just as quickly... not
this time.

Looking at the items to sync, I've lost Calendar and Tasks. I still have
Contacts, (SmartPhone) Notes, and SPB Wallet. This is only under Home PC.
Meanwhile, Office PC is fine.

How do I get Calendar and Tasks back? If I go to Tools > Options, they're
not even listed there.

TIA for any help.

Hi John,

See if running scanpst helps resolve the issue. You may refer -

Thank you, Raj.

I'm inclined to think that the file's not corrupt since the office
'partnership' is fine. It's just that the home 'partnership' is missing
Calendar and Tasks. I'm a little reluctant to do anything if the odds are low
that it would help... too many of those where I then spend hours or days
trying to fix a subsequent problem.

For the same reason I have a queasy feeling that I'm supposed to delete one
of the devices or partnerships. But I've been there before and hell ensued
trying to get everything working together again.

Hopefully, there's an easy fix. It sure is annoying not being able to sync
one's Calendar and Tasks. Kinda the main reason for getting into computers
and trying to trust them in the first place.

Thanks again.

Hi John,

My suggestion is based on past experience where scanpst seems to have helped
resolve the issue. If there was an easy fix, trust me I would have shared it
with you. :-)

Either way, whatever steps you pursue to fix the issue you are experiencing,
do share it here.

Thanks again, Raj.

I looked under File > Mobile Device and saw that there were two devices. I
have no idea how the second one was created. (Do you?) I deleted one and let
it sync (took more than an hour). Now it seems to be fine.

I wonder what'll happen when I get to the office and try syncing there.

Hi John,

Apologies for the delayed reply. The two entries you see are two different
partnership names. One of them is likely to be a partnership name that you
used earlier. Did you encounter any sync issues when you attempted at work?

Again!

Can anyone please tell me why (1) Microsoft hates me so much that it would
make me waste so much of my time; or (2) Why the user/connection info gets
messed up out of the blue, causing me to search for the (corrupt)
partnerships, delete them, then synch all over again as though the handheld
and computer have never seen each other before, thereby taking an
extraordinary amount of time to restore. Next will be a lot of time finding
and cleaning up duplicates in notes, tasks, contacts and calendar that this
whole process creates.

No new software. No new hardware. No new configurations.

On my Vista Home Prem system at the office, nothing would synchronize today.
It was fine in the past.

I opened Windows Mobile Device Center and selected "Change content sync
settings". If, for example, I then click on "Contacts - Sync Settings", it
gives me two checkbox options:

Synchronize contacts from

1. Windows PC Office; and

2. Windows PC Home.

These are the names of my systems.

Only Windows PC Home is checked... not Windows PC Office. What is it asking
me for here? If I want both systems synchronized, would I not check both? (If
so, why would I suddenly have only one checked?)

Same as above for Tasks, Contacts, etc.

TIA for any help.
