Just got my new iPAQ 211 Enterprise Handheld and trying to sync with my
computer. The sync will not stop, keeps starting over and over. This is
driving me nuts so any information would be much appreciated!
Here's what I've got;
Handheld - HP iPAQ 211 with Windows Mobile 6 Classic.
Computer - XP with service pack 2.
Outlook 2000.
Windows Media Player 11.
Thank you!!

What do you mean by starts over and over? The default behavior is to kick
off a sync about every 5 minutes. If nothing has changed, that sync
typically doesn't last long. I agree though it is somewhat annoying. If
yours is doing something else, reply with more detail.

Older versions of Sync software (AS3.8 and earlier) just hung out until
something syncable changed and then took care of that right then. No help
though for newer devices.

I don't know how to explain it any better than I did. It syncs over and over
and over. It goes on for hours until I Control/Alt/Delete and end the program.
The version of ActiveSync I have is 4.5.0

Hi,

Since its a new device and you don't have anything on the device (my
assumption), I would suggest try performing a hard reset and then retry.

I would try Raj's suggestion, but also in AS on the desktop, remove the
current partnership if it shows one. If you hard reset the device, which is
usually done on an HP using some combination of buttons and the reset
button(hole), understand this will take you back to out-of-the-box fresh.
You can also try deleting any partnership that may have set up badly under
AS on the 211, and try re-setting up the partnership.

I have the same problem 8 hours on sync and nothing. And - the HP IPAQ 211
will not sync and even when it says it did.

The HP people are not helpful 0ther than to go by their script and say that
"it is supposed to sync." At the end they said that it happens with windows
vista as if we are supposed to live with a unit that HP sold us that is not
always going to sync with MS windows.

Try uninstalling the MS mobile device and reinstalling it - then sync. If
you can tell me where to locate the reinstall WIndows Mobile device for the
IPAQ 211 I would appreciate kinowing the step by step instructions. I think
I tried this and the result was the same - no sync.

Any help will be appreciated.

thanks,

Try deleting the Activesync partnership and setting it up again. You might
have to change the 211's ID to get a different partnership name.

Mine works OK with XP SP3 but the sync process is much, much slower than my
old Dell X30 with Windows Mobile 2003.
