ActiveSync cannot convert some Office 2007 Excel files

I have a Toshiba e355 PDA running Pocket PC 3.0.11171, ActiveSync 4.5.0
(Build 5096), and recently added Office 2007.

I've been synching many spreadsheets for years. Soon after upgrading to
Office 2007 Enterprise, some of my changed files began getting the following
error:
Error Converting File
Cannot convert file '[filename]'
Unknown eror 8000abcd.
I've since discovered by process of elimination that certain formatting
changes added in the new excel seem to be causing the problem (colors, fonts,
copy/pasting from websites, etc.). I expect that an update to ActiveSync or
PPC is in order, but haven't located anything pertinent in the Knowledgebase.
Any ideas?

Hi,
Are you trying to copy a .xlsx (Excel 2007) format file? These are not
supported to be converted. I suggest that you save the file as a .xls
(Excel 2003 format).

Hi,
I do not. However I suspect that they may choose not to offer it since they
dropped prior conversion functionality for pwd and pxl files.
