ActiveSync, Contacts, and lost categories

It appears there is some type of limit on the total number of categories
for contacts on a Pocket PC 2003 device, because when I use ActiveSync
to synchronize contacts, some categories are missing from some contacts.
(The categories that are missing do, however, appear in the master
category list. I am using about 75 unique categories.)

I have seen posts about similar problems in the past. Is a solution
available?

Thanks,

Frank

You might want to try recreating your partnership... sync one last
time, then go to File -> Delete Partnership, then re-cradle the device.
When asked what to do (combine, etc.) tell it to replace all items on
the Pocket PC with those from the desktop computer. Deleting your
partnership will not result in data loss, and you can use the same
partnership name (just be sure to say "No" when it asks if you want to
delete the file sync directory, if you have file sync enabled).

Bob,

Thank you for the reply.

Your suggestion seems like a (possible) workaround rather than a solution.

I would like a real solution, so that I don't have to encounter the
problem anymore.

Microsoft, are you listening?

Thanks,

Frank

Rob,

I tried recreating the partnership, etc.

That did not help - Some categories are still missing on the device.

By the way, a third party can reproduce similar category problems.

Microsoft, are you listening?

Thanks,

Frank

Hrmmm... can you try running ScanPST on your PST file (see
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.htm for further info), and
also try running Help -> Detect and Repair in Outlook then reinstall
ActiveSync?
