I have Axim X5 and i have been using it for the last year with no problems
at all. Now all of a sudden, it doesn't want to sync up with desktop that is
running Win2k. I tried to uninstall activesync, reinstall, upgrade to 3.8.
No go. Also tried a soft reset of PDA. When i place it in the cradle, it
connects, then disconnects immediately. This just started a couple of weeks
ago. The only thing that i could think of is that i received a linksys
wireless router for christmas becuase we recently got DSL, and maybe that is
causing the problems. Becuase before, i was on dialup and using ZoneAlarm
and had no trouble. So, if it does have to do with my router, what do i need
to do to allow ActiveSync to work properly again. Oh, i even tried hooking
it up to another machine i have (WinXP Pro SP2), and same error. It connects
for less than a sec, then disconnects.

Thanks

You're not running ZoneAlarm on the other machine? Do you hear the
Windows connect sound (not the ActiveSync sound - the Windows one is a
two-tone sound)? On the other computer, when ActiveSync disconnects do
you hear the Windows disconnect sound?

Both machines are running Zone Alarm Pro, and when i place the PDA in the
cradle on either machine, i do hear the connecting sound, then i hear the
disconnect sound. After it disconnects, it gives a sync error message in the
ActiveSync program window.

Hi Seth,

Verify if you have given the ActiveSync Applications permission within
ZoneAlarm. Refer --
