ActiveSync remotely stopped working after 3.8 install

My iPAQ 6315 was able to sync remotely just fine until I installed ActiveSync
3.8, now it can't connect. I can connect to the host PC using Terminal
Services Client so I know the VPN works, and I can sync via USB so I know the
partnership is established. What the heck? Can anybody help?
