Activesync retrieving settings message but not continuing

I have an imate Jasjar, upgraded the firmware on it to the latest revision.
Once the upgrade was completed and Jasjar reset and setup I plugged into USB
link and Activesync detects it, asks for password which I enter and then
Activesync shows a little info window with the message 'Retrieving settings
....", thats it, it does not complete the retrieval. I have left it for many
hours, uninstalled, restarted PC and re-installed Activesync 4.1.
My only thought is the firmware upgrade is the cause but how to revert it if
no link to PC ?

Hi,
Did you perform a hard reset after the rom upgrade? Did you delete the old
partnership before trying to sync again?

I did both things, you have to hard reset the Jasjar to get it to work again
after the upgrade.
I deleted all partnerships in Activesync but not necissarily before I tried
to resync after upgrade.
I am not sure how I would get around that now if that is part of the problem.
