Activesync starts to sync then cannot complete sync

Using a Dell Axim X5 with Pocket PC Windows 2003. Running
Active Sync 3.7.1 build 4034. I was having problems with
AvantGo client so I removed to to try reinstalling. After
that when I put the pda in the cradle it starts to sync,
then on my desktop I get an error that synchronization
could not be completed successfully and to go to the
activesync troubleshoother guide if the problem persists.
I could not find anything there that could solve this
problem. In the desktop Device Manager I get a code 33,
device is not responding to driver. I reinstalled the
driver. Still not completing sychronization. I tried
reinstalling the AvantGo client but it won't install
because ActiveSync won't stay connected.

As an additional note, I am using Norton's firewall, but I
tried diabling it and continue to have the same problem.
