I've encountered strange situation here. Whenever I install Novell Client
4.91 SP2 on my WinXP SP2 machine, ActiveSync 4.1 process will be killed
automatically, hence making it impossible for me to sync with my PDA. I
tried to repair and reinstall ActiveSync after the installation of Novell
Client, but to no avail.

When I uninstalled back Novell Client, repair ActiveSync installation, I
can again sync with my PDA without any problem.

Could anyone highlight to me the solution for this problem? This is a
home PC which I daily use to access files in my office server through Novell
Client, but I need to sync with my PDA as well. Currently, the only
solution that I have is to install/uninstall Novell Client several times
a day just to get ActiveSync works when I need to use it.

Hi,
Have you tried installing Novell first and then ActiveSync? Does the Novell
client block all other network connections while you are connected?

Hi Chris,

Yes, I've tried that and still, ActiveSync process (WCESMgr.exe) will
automatically be unloaded without any error message. So far, I've not
encountered any other problem with other network connections.

Hi,
It could be an administrator setting in Novell to not allow any other
network connections at the same time you are logged in.

Have you contacted your network administrator for assistance with this?

Hi Chris... Thanks for continuing trying to assist me on this problem.

The ActiveSync problem persists whether I logged into the server or not, so
I don't think it has anything to do with the Novell Netware setting. However,
I still talked to my Network Admin and according to him, he did not aware of
any setting in Novell Client / Server to disable / block other network
connections. Only all access to Internet is controlled by a proxy server.

Hi,
It could be the proxy server causing the problem. There are proxies that
are setup so you cannot connect to any other network while you are connected
to the office.

This is true of ISA Server as well as others.
