ActiveSync Won't Reconnect After Device Reset

1I have a new Samsung Omnia from Verizon and I've run into a problem that has
me stumped. The backup software I'm using to do periodic backups of my device
when I connect the USB cable, has to soft reset the device in order to access
all the files it is backing up.

The problem I'm having is, when the Omnia comes back up after the reset,
ActiveSync won't reconnect to the PC until I unplug and reconnect the USB
cable from the device. I have contacted the software company and determined
that it's ActiveSync that is the issue. We also have another user with the
same device and same backup software who doesn't have this problem. The only
difference between us is he's running XP SP3 on his workstation and I am
running Vista SP1 and have Windows Mobile Device Manager installed.

Does anyone have any hints on how to resolve this. Although it's more of a
nuisance than a problem, I would be nice to be able to plug in my device for
a backup and not have to babysit to reconnect after it resets.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I dont reset the device when its connected. However, as a test, I reset a WM
6.1 device while it was connected and when the device came back up, WMDC
detected it automatically and synchronized. I am using WMDC 6.1. Which
version of WMDC are you using on your PC?

Hi,
What you are seeing is by design. Normally users do not soft reset their
device with the USB cable connected.

I suggest that you contact the vendor that made the backup program and ask
them about this issue and see why they perform a soft reset.
