I did an update to my Compaq NC 8430 from Windows XP sp3 oficce 2003 to
Windows XP sp3 office 2007. The problem I'm having is that I can't get the
activex dialog box window. When I try to do a windows update at
update.microsoft.com, I get the install the activex control required to view
the website message, but there is no dialog box. Downloaded the file
OLEfix.zip that seems have worked in similar problems, but still can't see
the dialog box. Any idea?

Was the computer fully-patched prior to installing Office 2007?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?

Yes, the computer was full-patched prior Office 2007. I'm using the whole
McAffe suite Virus scan 13.3, Security center 9.3, personal firewall 10.3.
Suscprition current, no virus, spyware or malware found.

Huh? Are you referring to McAfee Security Center or do you have more than
one McAfee application installed?

Has another McAfee application or a Norton application ever been installed
on this machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you
bought it; an earlier McAfee application/version)?

Sorry, I meant McAfee Securty center. No Norton or free trial versions pre
installed.
It was working well with XP Pro office 2003 and McAfee security center, the
problem started when I did the update to XP Pro office 2007.

Did you uninstall Office 2003 before installing Office 2007? (NB: Just
asking. It is NOT necessary to do so!)

Have you ever had another McAfee application installed before you installed
McAfee Security Center?

Office 2003 uninstalled before installing office 2007. None other McAfee
application installed before. Weird thing, I'm getting now the updates
yellow sign in the task bar saying downloading updates 0% but can't download
anything. Still can't get the activex dialog box.

1. If you go to shutdown, do you see an "Install updates and turn off
computer" option?

2. If you go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com, can you install the
updates?

No, to both questions. I'm just getting the updates

1. First, give the FixIt here a whirl:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

2. Reboot if not prompted to do so.

3. Make certain that Automatic Updates is enabled (Start | Settings |
Control Panel | Automatic Upates); cf.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306525
