Is there anyway or any tools out there to help an admin get a list of all
users in AD that haven't been active in x number of days? we are trying to
find a way to remove old inactive accounts as part of a security audit...
thanks!

Use Joe Richards' free oldcmp utility. See this link:

http://www.joeware.net/freetools/tools/oldcmp/index.htm

It works equally well with user accounts.

Hello Smokey,

I second Richards suggestion, this tool is really helpful. Use it myself
very often.

Best regards

ah cool, I had an old version of that and I don't think it supported users,
nice to see the current version does

Oldcmp works well, but I have a script that lists out users last logon as
well plus it will give you many other users attributes for audit purposes
etc... We run it nightly and save all output. We can then go back and
track additions and deletions of users, etc...
