Ad-watch Warning-Attempt to add a registry value

I have AdAware installed with Ad-watch. I just got a message that there was
an attempt to add a registry value to
Root: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key: Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Value: First Home Page
New Data:
http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir...ie5updateO1=b1

I did not update Windows, but I do have automatic update turned on. Is
this a legit update, and should I allow it???

Thanks!

Bob

Peter:
This was not meant as a link. It is a list of information given about the
site that provided the information that was attempting to be added to the
registry. It sounds like I should block this update?

I also have ad-watch, yet my last update from windows was installed with
ad-watch settings on automatic. Which means that I don't receive those h_key
messages from ad-watch. Unfortunately I think by letting it go on automatic
watch the program allowed microsoft to embed this website. I think it is
somehow related to the problem I'm having with IE in that everytime I open
the browser I get the Windows update window instead of my homepage. My
homepage link is still in tact under internet options however.

I would not allow the modification to go through. And I wouldn't set your
ad-watch to automatic. You may end up with my problem.

By the way I believe it is related because I just re-booted my computer, and
re-installed ad-aware with it's default settings (automatic not selected) and
when I first opened my browser after installing all windows updates I
recieved the very same message you did. I got it every time after until I set
ad-watch to automatic, and now my browser always opens to Win Update. I
tried reversing it by turning off auto, but no luck.
