Hi,
I installed WSUS in the 2003 server box. Now I try to add computers in
domain into the computer group of WSUS.
I opened WSUS admin console. clicked on computers. There is no computer on a
group. How can I add them to the group. Thanks

Hello QuyNguyen,

Did you add the wuau.adm to your administrative templates in a GPO and configure
the policy for the machines? The computers can only report to the WSUS server
if they are configured to do it.

Hello QuyNguyen,

On the OU where your computers are located add a new Group policy object
WSUS workstations for example. Computer configuration, rightclick Administrative
templates and choose "Add/remove templates", remove all listed ones, will
not have an effect for other GPO's, and add the wuau.adm Now you can configure
the settings for the WSUS server, how you like to update the machines etc.

Best regards

Hello QuyNguyen,

Do NOT install WSUS on a DC, use a member server with a lot of disk space
and a good NIC.

On the clients you have to run "gpupdate /force" or reboot to apply the policy,
you can check with "gpresult /v" on the client to see if the policy is applied.

Then you have to wait until the client reports to the WSUS server. You can
force it with "wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow" from the run line
on the client.

Hello QuyNguyen,

You have to add the computers that you like to update to the OU not the WSUS
server.

Hello QuyNguyen,

In server 2003 or higher you can just drag and drop, with 2000 you mark multiples
at once and can rightclick them and choose MOVE. Then follow the structure
where you like to move them. If you have them located in another OU make
sure that if policies applied there will/could be removed.

Best regards
