There was no downloadable upgrade to 2005 from v2004 or v2002 (if that is
what you have). Several of the mfg (Sony, HP, etc.) did offer a limited time
upgrade disk for users who had recently purchased a system, but those
programs have long since ended. If you do have a version earlier than MCE
2005, the only way to upgrade is purchase an OEM copy and do a clean install
(or upgrade to Vista or 7, if your hardware can support either).
Verify which version of MCE that you have by going through the MC interface,
choose: Settings > General > About Media Center
