Can anyone help??-I am having a horrible time installing and using the
program. I purchased a HP pavilion mx704 approx four months ago. It had a
trial version of Microsoft 2003 standard edition. When it expired, (two days
ago) I purchased the Microsoft 2003 Student and Teacher Edition. I have been
trying to get it to work ever since! I have followed the step by step
instructions but it is not working. It runs throught the installation
process, states that it is installed, then I go to the menu to find Microsoft
Standard Edition 2003 on my computer (as before). I removed the old program,
even though it was expired, and reinstalled the Student and Teacher Edition.
Still, mysteriously, there comes the Standard Edition 2003 again! What in
the world is happening!? When the program is installing, it asks if I want
to install the "Complete installation", the "Minimal installation", the
"Typical" or the "Custom". In the handbook, it says that it should ask me to
"Upgrade" if another version of Word is on my computer. I am not given that
option. So, I am assuming that the trial version is gone. But, when I
install this, that is what comes up again. The same screen as before (the
trial), my word documents are still there in the same pages, etc. There is
not one thing different. Even when I look in the Programs on my computer, it
reads Microsoft 2003 Standard Edition. Am I going crazy? I've spent hours
on this computer and am very frustrated. I'm losing my mind over this. It
should have been easy to install this, but it is not working!!!!! Am I
supposed to be doing something else differently? PLEASE HELP

Hi - you're not in the best newsgroup for your question. This is a newsgroup
for Windows Update issues. I suggest you post in a group for Microsoft
Office.

You worry for nothing.

As far as I know there is no difference in the programs,
the are the same . The difference is in the licensing
pricing. That is you pay less for the student edition.

"Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 is for
noncommercial use only. It's a suite of popular Microsoft
Office personal productivity programs that is priced
affordably for students and teachers in grades K-12 and
institutions of higher education." Find out if you
qualify.

If all the programs work, you have no problem. In a trail
versionm they should stop or partially stop working after
a while.
